About the Role
The Food Service Assistant helps keep the kitchen running smoothly and makes sure every guest gets top‑notch service. You’ll work with a friendly team, prepare food, keep the kitchen tidy, and make sure all the equipment is in good shape. The job is part of the “Icebolethu Kitchen” team, and we need 4 helpers in total – 2 in Fourways and 2 in Johannesburg.
What You’ll Do
- Serve Guests: Greet customers, take orders, and serve food with a smile.
- Help Cook: Assist chefs with chopping, seasoning, and plating.
- Clean Up: Wash dishes, wipe down surfaces, and keep the kitchen organized.
- Check Supplies: Make sure we always have enough food, utensils, and cleaning supplies.
- Ask for Help: Tell the team leader about any problems or if you need extra support.
- Stay Safe & Clean: Follow all food‑safety rules and keep your hands clean at all times.
Who We’re Looking For
| Requirement | What It Means |

| School Grade | Completed Grade 12 (or similar). |
| Food Service Experience | At least 12 months working in a kitchen or food‑service role. |
| Driver’s License | Not mandatory, but helpful if you need to travel to job sites. |
| Basic Skills | Good teamwork, honest, reliable, and able to lift items safely. |
| Physical Ability | Can bend, stand, lift, and keep moving quickly. |
| Healthy | No food or detergent allergies that would affect the job. |
| Enthusiasm | Love food, teamwork, and learning new kitchen tricks. |
The Location
We’re based at Icebolethu’s kitchen in Fourways. If you live in Fourways, Diepsloot, Cosmo City, or Alexandra, it’ll be easier to get to work. Some travel around Johannesburg might be needed, so you should be comfortable moving between nearby locations.
