About the Job
Dis‑Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Post Basic Qualified (PBQ) Pharmacist Assistant to join the team at the Cape Gate store. This is a full‑time, permanent role that helps our customers get the medicines and health advice they need while staying safe and legal.
What You’ll Do
- Sell medicines that are on Schedule 1 and Schedule 2.
- Help make medicines for patients, following strict recipes and safety rules.
- Manage medicine stock, from packing to keeping track of how many doses we have.
- Order medicines up to Schedule 6, guided by our pharmacists.
- Read prescriptions carefully, put the right labels on bottles, and hand them out correctly.
- Enter prescription details into the computer, double‑check patient information, and make sure every dose is right.
- Give customers advice on how to use medicines and answer questions about over‑the‑counter help.
- Keep customer records tidy, merge duplicate records, and make sure follow‑up appointments are scheduled.
- Report on stock levels and help with inventory checks twice a year.
- Handle insurance claims and follow medical aid procedures.
What We Need From You
- High school diploma (Grade 12 or similar).
- Basic Pharmacist Assistant certificate.
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Some experience with Unisolv software.
- Good computer skills – comfortable with MS Office.
- Strong maths skills to count doses and amounts.
- Speak English and at least one more language, both reading and talking.
- Ready to work retail hours (including weekends if needed).
Bonus Skills That Help
- Retail or fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) experience.
- An extra language you can speak.
- Familiarity with SAP software and E‑Scripting.
- Knowledge of drugs, birth‑control, and herbal medicine.
