About the Role
In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading our Decision Science team, prioritizing and overseeing analysis to translate business data into actionable insights that drive strategic business decisions. This includes ensuring that our delivery meets the objectives, plans, processes, and standards of Decision Science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of decision scientists to analyze large datasets and develop predictive models to inform business decisions
- Prioritize and oversee analysis to drive business outcomes in the areas of credit and risk management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data-driven solutions
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to communicate insights and results
Qualifications:
- A minimum of an Honours degree in Mathematics or Statistics
- A Grade 12 National Certificate or equivalent
- A Master’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics (desirable)
Experience and Knowledge:
- Minimum 6 years of experience in an analytical science role, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management position
- Experience in extracting and aggregating data from large relational databases
- Proficiency in programming languages such as SAS, SQL, R, and Python
- Strong stakeholder relationship engagement and management skills
- Ability to develop scorecards from scratch
- Intermediate level of knowledge in advanced analytics, data mining, and predictive modeling
- Strong understanding of business acumen, project management methodologies, and IT implementation cycles
- Familiarity with best practices for Decision Science, including reusability, reproducibility, and continuous monitoring
Ideal Experience and Knowledge:
- Experience in the banking or financial sector, specifically in retail credit environments
- Knowledge of quantitative analysis techniques and machine learning models
