The Department of Employment and Labour Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their BCEA Internship Programme Vacancies. The closing date for applications is 31 December 2025.


What the Internship Is About

The Department of Employment and Labour is launching a big internship program for the years 2025‑2027. It is called the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA) Internship Programme.
The goal is simple: give fresh university graduates real‑world experience working with labour law and making sure workplaces follow the rules.


How Many Places?

There are 3,197 internship spots spread all over South Africa. Every intern will get a monthly stipend of R7,860.50 for doing their job.

Who Can Join?

You need a three‑year tertiary qualification.
Examples are:

  • National Diploma (NQF Level 6)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7)

You should study in one of these areas:

  • Labour Relations
  • Business Law (BCom Law)
  • Law (LLB)
  • Labour Law
  • Commercial Law

If you have finished any of these courses, you might be the right fit.


What Will You Do as an Intern?

Your work will help keep workplaces fair and safe:

  • Check workplaces to make sure they follow the BCEA, Sectoral Determinations and the National Minimum Wage Act.
  • Help investigate complaints or cases where a company might not be following the law.
  • Provide administrative help to labour inspectors, organizing files and supporting daily tasks.
