About the job
Ster‑Kinekor is looking for an energetic, reliable person who likes working with people. This is an entry‑level, fixed‑term role at the Wonderpark cinema. You will help make sure every guest leaves with a smile by doing a mix of tasks such as selling tickets, taking food orders, preparing popcorn, and keeping the cinema tidy.
The post is flexible – you might be a box‑office cashier one shift, a waiter the next, or a popcorn maker later on. Ster‑Kinekor expects you to stay friendly, keep the place clean, and follow the brand’s standards for service and presentation.
What you will do
- Sell tickets and food – greet guests, answer questions, and process payments quickly.
- Promote offers – know the latest movie deals and snack combos so you can suggest them to guests.
- Prepare popcorn, soft drinks, and other snacks – follow the recipe and keep the quality high.
- Set up and tidy displays – make sure posters, snack stations, and information boards look neat.
- Check age‑rating signs – display the correct warnings so guests know which movies are for which ages.
- Keep the kitchen and counters clean – wipe surfaces, empty bins, and follow hygiene rules.
- Store food safely – seal and label items, monitor expiration dates, and report any problems.
- Help with shift set‑up – organize the work area before the cinema opens.
- Follow safety procedures – wear the correct uniform, use equipment properly, and fill out any required health‑and‑safety reports.
- Work as a team – support co‑workers, share tasks, and stay flexible during busy periods.
What you need
- Matric (Grade 12) certificate – the minimum education level.
- 0‑1 year of similar work experience – you can be fresh out of school.
- Basic computer skills – know how to use Microsoft Office and cinema cash‑register systems; experience with MYCC is a plus.
- Good communication – speak clearly, listen well, and write simple notes.
- Organisational ability – keep track of orders, tickets, and supplies.
- Attention to detail – check food quality, keep displays tidy, and follow hygiene rules.
- Customer‑focused attitude – enjoy helping guests and making their visit enjoyable.
- Physical stamina – be ready to stand, lift light items, and move around the cinema.
- Professional appearance – follow the uniform policy and present yourself neatly.
Why this role is a great start
- Hands‑on experience in a popular entertainment venue.
- Varied duties give you a taste of ticketing, food service, and general cinema operations.
- Team environment helps you build people skills and learn from coworkers.
- Opportunity to grow – many former multi‑skilled staff move on to full‑time or supervisory positions within Ster‑Kinekor.
