What the job is about
A Health Merchandiser helps keep the health‑section of a pharmacy looking neat, stocked and easy to shop. You will make sure every product is in the right place, the shelves never run empty and shoppers get friendly help when they need it. The role is full‑time and permanent, and it’s a great way to start a career with one of South Africa’s biggest pharmacy chains.
Main duties you’ll do each day
- Put new stock on the shelves as soon as it arrives.
- Follow the “first‑in, first‑out” rule so older items sell before newer ones.
- Check that every product is labelled correctly and displayed nicely.
- Build and refresh eye‑catching product displays.
- Keep the store and the back‑room tidy and organised.
- Help with stock‑taking counts and make sure the computer system matches what’s on the floor.
- Answer customers’ questions about where items are and help them find what they need.
- Work with the team to keep the shop running smoothly, especially during busy periods.
What you need to have
- Matric (Grade 12) certificate.
- Up to six months of experience working in a shop or supermarket (extra experience is a plus).
- Basic computer skills – you should be comfortable using Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work retail hours, which include weekends and public holidays.
- Good command of English and the ability to talk clearly with customers.
- A trustworthy attitude and a reliable work ethic.
- Good time‑management and the ability to stay organized.
- Physical fitness – you’ll be moving boxes and lifting items that can be heavy.
- A willingness to work both on your own and as part of a team.
- A neat, professional appearance and a positive outlook.
Extra skills that make you stand out
- A diploma or degree in a health‑related subject.
- One year or more of retail experience.
- Ability to speak another South African language.
- Knowledge of how products are displayed in fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG).
- Experience reading ZMORE reports for ordering or stock‑taking.
- Familiarity with SAP or Unisolv inventory systems.
- Ability to spot and report any suspicious activity in the store.
