About the Job
Adendorff Machinery Mart needs a friendly Retail Shop Assistant for its store in George, Western Cape. This is a permanent position that’s perfect if you like working with tools, hardware, or machines and enjoy helping people find what they need. You’ll be part of a busy shop where you can learn a lot about sales, customer care, and product knowledge.
What You’ll Do Every Day
- Greet every customer with a smile and a warm welcome.
- Listen to what they are looking for and suggest the right tools, equipment or machinery.
- Show how a product works and explain why it is useful.
- Keep the shelves tidy, stocked, and easy to browse.
- Help count stock, fill in inventory sheets and make sure nothing is missing.
- Support the team in meeting daily and weekly sales goals.
- Keep the shop clean, safe, and organized.
- Answer questions, solve problems and make sure each shopper leaves happy.
- Follow all store policies, safety rules and standard operating procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Grade 12 (or equivalent) certificate.
- Any previous retail experience is a plus, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of DIY tools, hardware, or machinery (or a willingness to learn).
- Good communication skills and a genuine desire to help customers.
- Ability to sell and present products in an appealing way.
- Basic understanding of stock control and inventory.
- Honest, reliable and professional attitude.
- Team‑player who can also work independently when needed.
- Strong organization and time‑management skills.
- Ready to work Monday‑Friday 08:00‑17:00 and Saturdays 08:00‑13:00.
