The Sales Assistant role is a full‑time position in the Baby City store located in Table Bay Mall, Cape Town, Western Cape. Day‑to‑day duties

- Count stock during regular inventory checks and help with full stock‑takes.
- Load new boxes onto the shop floor and move stock to the back room when needed.
- Make sure every item has the right price tag and label.
- Set up promotional displays and put up marketing signs the right way.
- Take down promotion material after the campaign ends.
- Scan cash, cards and vouchers accurately at the checkout.
- Register loyalty points and process returns correctly.
- Keep up‑to‑date with product information so you can answer questions confidently.
- Deal with any customer complaints or compliments and pass them to the manager.
- Handle merchandise carefully to avoid loss or damage.
- Help keep the store clean and presentable at all times.
Who should apply
- Finished Grade 12 (Matric).
- Up to 6 months of retail experience is helpful, but a full year is preferred.
- Good English speaking and writing skills.
- Basic understanding of how a store runs (stock, cash handling, pricing).
- A strong focus on helping customers.
- Comfortable working with cash, cards and vouchers.
- Basic computer skills – you should know Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Good at managing time and staying organized.
- Honest, reliable and takes responsibility for your work.
- Able to think quickly and solve simple problems that pop up on the shop floor.
- Ready to work retail hours, which include weekends and public holidays.
- Clear credit and criminal record.
- South African citizen.
