Why an Internship with the Department of Tourism?
If you’ve just finished university and want to learn real‑world skills, a tourism internship is a great step. You’ll get hands‑on experience, work on projects that change how South Africa’s tourism sector grows, and build a network of professionals. This internship lasts 24 months – 2 years of learning, growing, and doing.
Who Can Apply?
- New South African graduates or recent postgraduates (under 35 years old).
- You must have a college degree in one of the fields listed below.
- You should not have already worked in another internship program.
- Bring a copy of your ID, high school certificate, and the highest academic certificate you earned.

What Happens Next?
- The HR team will review your application against all the requirements.
- If shortlisted, you will receive a call or email to set up an interview.

Interview & Contract
- Interview: A face‑to‑face or virtual session to discuss your goals, skills, and how you can contribute.
- Contract: Once you’re accepted, you’ll sign a two‑year internship agreement.
