Department of Tourism Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Internship vacancies. The closing date for applications is 19 December 2025.


Why an Internship with the Department of Tourism?

If you’ve just finished university and want to learn real‑world skills, a tourism internship is a great step. You’ll get hands‑on experience, work on projects that change how South Africa’s tourism sector grows, and build a network of professionals. This internship lasts 24 months – 2 years of learning, growing, and doing.


Who Can Apply?

  • New South African graduates or recent postgraduates (under 35 years old).
  • You must have a college degree in one of the fields listed below.
  • You should not have already worked in another internship program.
  • Bring a copy of your ID, high school certificate, and the highest academic certificate you earned.

How to Submit Your Application

  1. Download Form Z83

    • Get the latest Z83 form from any Public Service Department office or visit gov.za to download it online.
  2. Write a Short CV

    • Include your name, contact details, latest university degree, and a brief list of your coursework or projects relevant to the internship you want.
  3. Send Your Complete Application

    • Deliver the signed Z83 and CV either:
      • In person at Tourism House, 17 Trevenna Street, Sunnyside, 0002
      • By post to Private Bag X 424, Pretoria, 00001
      • Or email it to internshipadmin2026-28@tourism.gov.za.

Tip: Make sure every page is clear and legible. Missing documents mean your application will be rejected.


What Happens Next?

  • The HR team will review your application against all the requirements.
  • If shortlisted, you will receive a call or email to set up an interview.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
  • If you haven’t heard from us within three months after the closing date, your application wasn’t successful.

Interview & Contract

  • Interview: A face‑to‑face or virtual session to discuss your goals, skills, and how you can contribute.
  • Contract: Once you’re accepted, you’ll sign a two‑year internship agreement.

Duration

  • 24 months (2 years) of immersive learning and practical experience.
