Transnet Rail Infrastructure Invites Graduates to Join Their Young Professional‑in‑Training Program

Transnet Rail Infrastructure invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Young Professional‑in‑Training (YPiT) vacancies.
The closing date for applications is 17 November 2025.

What the YPiT Program Looks Like

The YPiT program is a two‑year, hands‑on training plan for fresh South African graduates.
It’s based in Parktown and helps you learn the ins and outs of rail infrastructure while you work.
After two years, you’ll have a clear idea of what kind of career you want and the skills you’ll need to get there.

Who Should Apply?

  • 18‑35‑year‑olds who just finished a Bachelor’s or BTech (NQF Level 6) or an LLB.
  • Only South African citizens.
  • You don’t need any work experience in your field – that’s what we’ll give you.
  • Your university must be recognized by the Department of Higher Education & Training.

What You’ll Do

  • Rotate through Departments: Every six months you’ll move to a new area of the company.
  • Get Mentors: A senior staff member will guide you and help track your progress.
  • Earn a Professional Cred: You’ll collect skills that make you a standout in the job market.

Why It Matters

  • Real‑world learning – you’ll own projects, not just read about them.
  • Structured Growth – your next steps are clear and measurable.
  • Career Ready – the right skills open doors in rail and many other tech‑heavy fields.

What We’re Looking for

  • Strong commercial sense and good admin skills.
  • Comfortable with computers and common software.
  • Works well in teams, listens, and shares ideas.
  • Honest, professional, and friendly to clients and colleagues.
  • Can talk clearly and handle tough conversations.
  • Energetic, proactive, and motivated to learn.
  • Good at researching and solving problems.

Equity & Inclusion

Transnet Rail Infrastructure values diversity and follows an Employment Equity Plan.
Candidates from designated groups have a priority in the selection process.
